01Sponsor

Each giveaway is run by Boiler House (“Boiler House,” “we,” “us”), a house-music event promoter in West Lafayette, Indiana. You can reach us on Instagram at @boiler_house_wl (opens in new tab).

Sponsor legal name and mailing address: Boiler House, West Lafayette, Indiana. Mailing address available on request (see Contact).

Sometimes a local partner provides a prize. When that happens, the giveaway page (and post, if there is one) names the partner, and that partner is a co-sponsor of that giveaway only. Unless a giveaway names a co-sponsor, Boiler House alone provides the prize.

By entering, you agree to these rules and to the details of the giveaway shown on our website or giveaway post. If those details and these rules ever differ, the giveaway's specific details (the prize, the dates, the entry steps, the age limit) apply to that giveaway, and these rules cover everything else. Our decisions about the giveaway are final.

02Who can enter

To enter, you must, at the time you enter:

• be at least 18 years old. Some giveaways set a higher age, such as 21+ for prizes at a bar or 21+ venue. When the giveaway page, the post, or the table below shows a higher age, that age applies;
• be a legal resident of the United States;
• for form entries, sign in with your own Google account (a free one works) and give your real name and a working phone number. For Instagram entries, have your own real Instagram account that can receive DMs; if your account is private, we may not be able to see your entry.

Who can't enter: Boiler House organizers and staff, DJs and performers booked for the event tied to the prize, co-sponsors and partners and their employees, and the immediate family (parents, siblings, children, spouses) and household members of any of these people.

Void where prohibited or restricted by law. Each giveaway is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws.

We may ask a winner to show a valid photo ID to confirm their age and identity before handing over a prize.

03No purchase necessary

No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to enter or win. Buying a ticket, merch, or anything else does not increase your chances of winning. Following, liking, commenting, and sharing are all free.

If a giveaway is ever connected to a purchase, the post will describe a free way to enter with the same chance of winning.

04How to enter

Each giveaway lists how to enter on our giveaways page. Some are entered with the entry form on our website, some on Instagram, and some either way.

Entering with the form

Fill out the entry form on our website before the giveaway ends. The form asks you to sign in with a Google account (a free account works; you can make one at accounts.google.com) and records that account's email address. It also asks for your name and phone number so we can reach you if you win. It also asks whether you're interested in housing for next school year, and has an optional box to let a student housing partner contact you (see Privacy). Your housing answers, and whether you tick that box, have no effect on your chances of winning. One form entry per person per giveaway; duplicate entries are combined into one.

Entering on Instagram

When a giveaway has an Instagram post, follow the entry steps on that post. Typical steps:

• follow @boiler_house_wl;
• like the giveaway post;
• tag friends in the comments, if the post says each comment counts as an entry;
• bonus steps, like sharing the post to your story, count only if the post says so.

Fair play

• One person, one entry. Entries using fake names or emails, or from extra, fake, borrowed, or bot accounts, don't count, and neither do entries using bought followers, auto-commenting tools, or any other automation.
• Tag real people you know. Spam, hateful or harassing comments, and tags of brand or celebrity accounts may be disqualified.
• Your entry has to stay up until the winner is picked. If you delete your comment or unfollow before the draw, that entry may not count.
• Any entry limit on the post (for example, “up to 5 comments”) applies. Extra entries above the limit don't count.

Entries must come in before the giveaway ends. We go by the time recorded by Google Forms or Instagram. We are not responsible for entries that are late, lost, incomplete, or not visible to us because of outages, account settings, or technical problems. We may disqualify anyone who tampers with the giveaway, breaks these rules, or acts in a way that is unfair or abusive to others.

05Entry periods

Each giveaway has its own start and end time, shown on our giveaways page and in the table below (and on the Instagram post, if there is one). All times are Eastern Time (West Lafayette, Indiana). If we ever extend a giveaway, we will update the giveaway page (and post, if any) before the original end time.

06How winners are picked

After a giveaway ends, we pick the winner (or winners, if the giveaway says more than one) at random from all eligible entries received during the entry period. We use a random method, such as a random number generator or a random comment picker. We don't pick favorites.

Your odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries we receive.

We usually draw within 3 days after the giveaway ends. If the giveaway page (or post, if any) gives a different time, that time applies.

07How winners are contacted

We contact form winners by the email address of the Google account they entered with, or the phone number they gave, and Instagram winners by DM from @boiler_house_wl (opens in new tab). We also announce winners on @boiler_house_wl (opens in new tab), where we may tag the winner.

• You have 48 hours from when we contact you to reply. If you don't reply in time, turn out to be ineligible, or can't accept the prize, you lose the prize and we may draw an alternate winner.
• We may ask for your name, age, and the best way to get the prize to you (for cash prizes, the Venmo, Zelle or PayPal account to send it to). For some prizes we may ask you to sign a short form confirming you're eligible and accept the prize.
• We will never ask for money, a card number, bank details, or your password. See the scam warning.

08Prizes

Each prize is described on our website and/or giveaway post, often with an approximate retail value (ARV). The ARV is our good-faith estimate of what the prize would cost to buy. If the actual value turns out to be lower, you won't receive the difference.

• Cash prizes are sent by Venmo, Zelle or PayPal to an account in the winner's own name, within 7 days after the winner confirms. We cover any sending fees. We will never ask you to send us money.
• No cash alternative for non-cash prizes. They can't be exchanged for cash or swapped for something else, except at our choice.
• Non-transferable unless the post says otherwise. You can't sell or give your prize to someone else.
• If a prize becomes unavailable, we may substitute a prize of equal or greater value.
• Event tickets and passes follow the venue's rules, age limits, and dress code, and are only good for the date stated. If an event is canceled or rescheduled, the prize follows the event's new date or refund policy. Travel to and from the event is not included unless the post says so.
• Taxes are the winner's responsibility. If the value of what you win is high enough to require tax reporting, we may need your legal name, address, and taxpayer ID number to file the required forms (such as an IRS Form 1099).
• Prizes are given “as is.” Any warranty comes from the maker, not from us.

09Winner announcements

By accepting a prize, you agree that we may show your first name and last initial, or your Instagram handle, as the winner on our Winners wall, in our posts, and in our stories, without extra payment, except where the law doesn't allow it. We will ask before we post a photo of you.

10Privacy

• What we collect. Form entries are collected with Google Forms and stored in Boiler House's Google account: your name, the email address of the Google account you sign in with, your phone number, your answer to the housing question, and which boxes you ticked. Instagram entries: your handle and your entry.
• How we use it. To run the giveaway, check eligibility, and contact and pay the winner. If you tick the box agreeing to hear about Boiler House events and promotions, we (Boiler House only) may email or text you about them. You can opt out anytime (reply STOP to texts).
• Our student housing partner. Only if you tick the optional box “Share my name and email/number with a student housing partner so they can email me about housing for next year”, we share your name, email address, phone number and housing answer with a student housing partner, who may email you about apartments for next school year. Ticking the box agrees to emails from the partner, not to texts or calls. Once shared, the partner's own privacy policy applies, and you can unsubscribe from its emails anytime. If you don't tick the box, we don't share your info with the housing partner or any other company for marketing. Ticking it or not has no effect on your chances of winning.
• We don't sell your information or share it with anyone else, except service providers that help us run the giveaway (like Google Forms) or when the law requires it.
• We delete winners' payment details once the prize is delivered, and we delete entry info we no longer need.
• Want your info deleted? DM @boiler_house_wl and we'll remove it from our records.
• Your use of Instagram is covered by Instagram's own terms and privacy policy.

11Instagram / Meta release

Our giveaways are in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc. By entering, you release Instagram and Meta from any responsibility connected to the giveaway. Questions or complaints about a giveaway go to us, not to Instagram.

To the extent allowed by law, by entering you also release Boiler House, its co-sponsors and partners, and the venues involved from claims connected to the giveaway or to receiving or using a prize. Nothing in these rules limits any right you have that can't be waived by law.

13Changes & cancellation

We may change, pause, or cancel a giveaway if something outside our control gets in the way of running it fairly, such as fraud, bots, technical problems, Instagram issues, or the related event being canceled. If we cancel, we may pick the winner at random from the eligible entries received before the cancellation. We'll post any change on our website and Instagram.

We may update these rules from time to time. The version in place when a giveaway starts applies to that giveaway. The “last updated” date at the top shows when these rules last changed.

These rules are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana. If any part of these rules can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
